      This is an early Xhosa Mother and Child Doll of this type, handcrafted in the Township of Khayelitsha, South Africa.  The artists are members of an aids and economic empowerment group that I spent a lot of time with in South Africa. 

      The detailed beading of the entire body and hair are a trademark of the excellent bead work by the Xhosa artist.

      The custom made stand is included.
